Pre-bookable
To pre-book appointments please call the surgery from 10am. You may book an appointment up to 3 months with a nurse and 1 month with a GP in advance. However, note that GPs are sometimes away, which will impact the number of appointments available.
Same Day
Appointments are available daily for those patients who wish to see the GP on the same day. Patients are asked to contact the surgery at 8.00am if possible. These are limited and should be booked if you need to see a GP that day.
Parents or guardians of children under age five will be offered a same day appointment when needed. This may be initially via telephone for speediness.
Emergency
Emergency appointments (such as chest pain, breathlessness, temperature and childhood illnesses) will be seen the same day as soon as possible. Although we cannot guarantee that you will see your preferred GP, we can usually ensure that one of our GPs will see you the same day. Please note for urgent cases, there may be some waiting involved; please be prepared.
If you are not sure how urgent the problem is and you need help or advice please call NHS 111. NHS Direct offers free health information and advice 24 hours a day.
If your injury or illness is severe or you have had a serious accident call 999 and ask for an ambulance. Or you can visit your local A&E Department.
Be on time
Please arrive promptly and remember to cancel your appointment if you can no longer keep it; someone else may need to see the doctor urgently.

Other Available appointments via Spokes
When the day’s appointments are full and need urgent attention; Stepping Stone Practice is a member of Blackburn with Darwen’s Local Primary Care GP Federation. The Local Primary Care federation runs a GP extended access service that provides additional appointments at four neighborhood spoke surgeries. Patients can be booked into one of the spoke surgeries via the practice receptionists accordingly. Please ask at reception for more information.
